Neves-Corvo, Baixo Alentejo. The most active mining region in Portugal, where one of the biggest copper mines of Europe can be found. However, the richness of this territory doesn't end underground. On the surface biodiversity flourishes among the cereal steppe areas and the holm oak Montado.
A journey by the rhythms of the seasons and through the different habitats that make up this region. A travel showing some of its most characteristic plants and animals and how they’ve adapted to this extreme environment. A relation between Man and Nature and how it was shaped throughout the centuries in a story of complicity told in the first person.
Wildlife documentary directed by Daniel Pinheiro as part of the biodiversity dissemination project on Neves Corvo. Produced by Somincor Mina de Neves Corvo - Lundin Mining Corporation, a participating company in the Business and Biodiversity initiative with the scientific collaboration of CBA - Center for Environmental Biology of the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon.
