Sofia Augusto

Main Research Interests

My main research interests are monitoring atmospheric, soil, and aquatic pollution by toxic organic compounds (such as dioxins, furans, PAHs, etc.), metals, radionuclides, etc., and evaluation of pollutants impact on ecosystems and on human health.

Ongoing Projects

  • 2008-2013: Evaluation of atmospheric deposition of heavy metals and PCDD/Fs in the surroundings of a cement mill with co-incineration of hazards industrial wastes using biomonitors (private funding - financed by the cement industry).
