Main Research Interests

I have broad interests in island biogeography, community ecology and entomology.
I study the processes that cause community assembly on different regions, but recently I have focused my work on island parasitoid faunas.

The core of my scientific activity is the research on biodiversity, in two main areas:
- Insights into the causes shaping species richness, functional diversity and structure of island faunas.
- Community assembly and organization through space.

As secondary areas, I work in:
- Macaronesian biogeography.
- Arthropod ecology and faunistics, mainly regarding parasitoids (Hymenoptera).
- Species-area relationship.
- Application of molecular techniques in ecology.
- Measurement of biodiversity, and the biases associated with biodiversity data.
- Ecology of arthropod pest species and their natural enemies.

Academic Qualifications

- 2010 – PhD in Biology (Ecology and Biogeography) (Imperial College, London)
